. , . . 1830 : . . 1991 . . 1989 , 164 . 2002- 38 . 2008 . 13 . . You are holding the White book of the ethnic cleansings of the Ossetian people. The conflict has been smoldering for a long time. In 1830 the Russian government has given an unambiguous verdict with regard to the matter: the Georgians do not have any rights to the South Ossetia. Stalin in his favorite manner of laying time-bombs on the borders between the neighboring people has sacrificed the Ossetians in favor of the Georgian SSR. The events of 1991 have been overshadowed with the skirmish between Gorbachev and Eltsin that kept Moscow unaware of what was going on in the South. Zviad Gamsahurdia encountered little resistance. According to the 1989 USSR population census there were 164 thousand Ossetians living in Georgia. By 2002 only 38 thousand Ossetians remained in Georgia. In 2008 the Ossetians had to run again, this time from South Ossetia. Thirteen years of attempts to establish peace in the region seemed a little too much for Mikhail Saakashvili and Georgia declared war against South Ossetia.
